The switch that flushes the head failed in the strangest way on my last trip. I pressed and released the switch and the head kept flushing.

I shut off the circuit breaker, repowered it and it worked fine for a few flushes - eventually failed ON the same way.

I don't believe there is a relay involved in the head circuit - so I will replace the switch -- no problem.

Two questions:

1. Where do I source a switch - it is a standard-looking single pole-double throw momentary contact, so it should be easy to buy -- I don't see it on the Ranger parts list, thus this question.

2. The R-31 has a nifty feature (I've only read about it). The switch changes color as the waste tank fills - getting its signal from a contact sensor applied to the outside of the head. Any idea where I can buy this switch, my present SOLO/SCAD is not very reliable and probably uses the same capacitive sensor and wiring (that is reliable)

Thanks! /Stu

Hello,

You are reporting that you have an R25 with an electric flush which means it would not have come that way from the factory when it was built. I would suggest posting the exact brand and model of toilet you have or doing a google search to see what spare parts are associated with it.

Thanks Stuart,

Sometimes customer support goes above what can possibly be expected. As Andrew noted, the head on my boat was not installed by Ranger, but rather, it turns out, was an upgrade by the previous owner. The super neat installation job hid the fact that the OEM equipment was replaced.

Armed with Andrew's hint, I poked around with my IPHONE, got the part number of the control box and was able to cause the failure. With the unit failing, I was able to tap the control box - the problem stopped immediately. Some discrete additional tapping took me to the exact failed relay.

Armed with a photo of the failed replay's Part Number, I contacted Thetford and placed a replacement on order. The only not real good news is the relay and control box were over $200!

Makes me think of an air head - but not in the future, I believe.

Thanks to the folks at Ranger and others who helped with hints.
