I am all of 6 months into boating with my 2012 R-27. Trying to learn the basic things to check has not been too hard but I've run up against an unknown. Where is the return air filter located for the air conditioning/heating system that I'm supposed to check monthly?

Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

In my boat it is behind the teak wood grate in the V berth just above the floor. It is held on by a few screws that need to be removed. Wash it out, let it dry and re-install.

Pretty sure yours is the same as mine. The units used at that time were split units. The compressor and control are under the port side steps and accessible from either the cave or the more convenient head liner on the port side V-berth. The chiller and return air are under the center forward v-berth cushion. The filter, as Brian said, is behind the teak grill below the removable v-berth center cushions. Removal is easy and a wash with warm water is all that is needed. While you are at it I would pour some hot water down the drain pan outlet to clean out any crud. I also pour some bilge cleaner down that hole and let it work its way all the way down to the stern bilge pump. Can't hurt.

Thanks guys. Never thought of looking there. Oh so much to learn!

On our 29 there is a filter that is behind the grill as well. There is also another more important filter that is right on the compressor right in front of the fins on the compressor. You may be talking about the same filter but I would just make sure there are not 2 🙂
