I can’t figure out how to reverse a saved route on the Garmin 7612, surely it’s possible?

From the Home Screen:
Select Info>User Data>Routes & Auto Guidance>
[Select the saved route you wish to reverse]
Select Navigate To>
Then select “Forward” or “Backward”

(You can also start from your chart instead of the Home Screen, or from any other screen by selecting “Info” at the bottom of the screen.)

Hope that helps.

John

Thanks for the input John. I’m not getting the “Forward” or “Backward” options after selecting “Navigate To” on the 7612 chart plotter.

I did discover though that “Direction Control” was disabled in the User Auto Pilot Setup screen on the GHC-20 Auto Pilot controller. I enabled direction control but still don’t get the option on the 7612.

I’m assuming I can select “Navigate To” on the chart plotter, then select the direction on the AP controller followed by “Engage”. I’ll try this next time I go out. Sometimes I like to run with the Navigation but without the auto pilot on.

Maybe a I need a firmware update on the 7612 chart plotter - it’s at version 15.10

Yes, you should probably update your plotter. I am at version 19.00.

I have left my Direction Control disabled on purpose. According to my understanding it has to do with using the autopilot to engage/steer the boat in reverse and that is not something I ever need or want to do.

I have the 76xx series plotter like you do and the process works fine on mine if all the steps are followed as outlined. You have to select a saved route (it will be highlighted in blue in the table) for the “Forward” and “Backward” buttons to appear.

Regardless, I would do an update before proceeding further.

Good luck!

John

Sounds like I totally misunderstand the direction control function of the autopilot, for now I think I’ll disable it.

Next thing will be to update the firmware - that’ll be a first for me as I’ve only had the boat a year, previous owner probably didn’t update it either.

Thanks again for the input - much appreciated!
