Hey All, does anyone know if there's a trick to getting the reverse gear filter cover back on? I've replaced the O rings which are the same size as the old ones. Is it a matter of working the larger O ring under the cap while tapping down. Seems too tight a fit. Have an R25sc with the Volvo D3. Any help much appreciated.

Cheers, Bill

I did oil changes yesterday and as always it took a couple attempts to seat the O-ring properly. Had an R-25s nd now have a R-29s. In both boats these covers seem a bit vulnerable. Would like to know the thinking in their design. However, applying pressure on the cap while tightening usually works.

Thanks for the reply 1Harrison. Lightbulb went off (pretty dim). The hex bolt is supposed to expand/contract the O ring within the filter cap. I was able to get the cap off without it loosening the ring. Just have to get to a vise to loosen it for reattaching.
