I'm trying to understand the function and use of the Solara S250 coupe's panel reverse polarity switch. Is it only for matching shore power configurations? When should it be switched on if at all given the potential damage?

Hi there!

That switch is the 110 power switch. It has a light that will indicate if a reverse polarity exists, thereby letting you know that there is an issue with the incoming 110 power, but it does not create a reverse polarity. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf

Hello:

We have a Solara 310SB and I was taught by the dealer service manager to turn it on when the boat is connected to shore power. First you turn off the engine and now thruster power off, connect the shore power to the boat, turn the breaker and switch the silver know on top of it to shore power. You should have 110 volts coming from the marina. Also always keep the battery charger turned on to make sure the batteries are always charged. This is the panel from our boat. It will never invert power-hope it helps IMG_3236.jpeg
