After reading the topic someone else posted about chartering on the Rideau Canal I did a quick search to find out more about the canal itself. Our ‘92 R21 is a bit cramped for two older senior citizen types, so I was wondering how conveniently-spaced overnight hotels or bed and breakfast facilities are along the canal - if they exist?

our boat looks identical to my 1997 R21. I'd do the canals in a heartbeat in my boat if I lived anywhere further east than Utah. I agree that on-shore accommodations would be better as we are in our early 70's. But we've done an occasional overnight on the boat, so if conditions can't get you to a hotel every night, take along a couple sleeping bags and pillows for emergency overnight.

There are many places to sleep along the way for sure, our marina is the middle of the Rideau Canal in Portlan and we did the whole canal twice. Just know that some days might be a little longer if you must reach the next shore accomodation, but it is absolutely doable. Here is an other link to get accomodation along the canal on land.

If you do choose to come and cruise the Canal, let me know, it would be nice to see another 21 in our marina...
