After several iterations of troubleshooting a leak from my 1 year old Ritchie compass I have found the leak. The two screws that secure the light shield have threaded moral tabs embedded in the plastic body of the compass housing. Evidently either both of mine have fallen out or were never installed. If the screws can’t be tightened, then the rubber seal on the sun shield tabs can’t make a seal and water will leak into the body of the compass and end up on the deck at the foot of the bed in the v-berth. This was confirmed after talking to Ritchie tech support. Luckily there is a 5 year warranty so I will send the compass in for R/R. In the mean time, I’ve gooped the screws in with silicone sealant/adhesive and the leak has stopped.
