Replaced 16 lbs stock anchor with a Rocna 10. Do I need to replace chain or hardware for the 23 pound bigger Rocna?

What kind of boat and what is the chain you have? 16lb implies an R25-OB with 50’ chain and 150’ rope? I think Rocha recommends 1/4 G4 (G40 or HT) chain and 1/2” rope for that anchor. I can’t recall what the R25 comes with but I think that’s what is already on there.

If you change chain size (e.g. going from 1/4” chain to 5/16” chain) you will need a new gypsy for the windlass. The gypsy must match chain size.
BTW I have a new, never used Windlass Chain & Rode - 30’ X 5/16" Galvanized G4 Chain + 220’ 9/16” Nylon Rope on sale at eBay under user glider4. Send me a PM for a better price!

I have a R25sc and replaced the original anchor with a Rocna 15. Use same chain and rode with no problems. Did the Great Loop with it and it works perfectly.
