When we had our Cutwater we used the Bruce style Lewmar anchor for the first two years. I never had an issue with setting it and also never had an issue with weather conditions that would cause an average anchor to drag. We then purchased a Rocna 10 and never looked back. This anchor was an automatic set it hooked and we never had an issue with drag. I anchored a few times in an open unprotected area with winds of 25 to 30 mph just to test its ability to hold. I am sold!!! I sold the Cutwater and the boat I have now has a Danforth anchor. These anchors have been around for years. I have used them but I can say I have had anchor drag with them from time to time. I want to use a Rocna but the roller and pulpit configuration on the boat will require some customizing to make it work. The Vulcan will work perfectly nothing to change except the anchor. For those that have used the Vulcan what are your reviews ? From what I have read it gives all the benefits of the original Rocna Design without the roll bar.

Check out the S/V Panope you-tube channel. He has tested the exact anchors you are interested in, in a variety of substrates and conditions. His methods are first-rate and will allow you to make a very informed decision.

I had a Rocna on the sailboat I recently sold. No problems, used it for years anchoring in Lake Huron's North Channel. However S/V Panope's tests indicate the roll bar can foul when the anchor resets if it has been pulled through a weedy bottom. He found, in those conditions, that the initial set was great but when dragged around due to tide or wind direction change, that the roll bar tends to accumulate material, preventing a good set.

I did not try the Rocna's fit on the anchor roller of my 2014 R29. I bought a Vulcan. It fits fine although the tip digs into the rubber bumper below the anchor fitting. I anchored 3 times this summer. Instantaneous set, no dragging, in fact, had a moderately hard time getting the anchor out of the bottom. The bottom, in each time, was clean sand. S/V Panope ranks the Vulcan high and I was able to buy it though Amazon Prime, avoiding shipping chrgs.
