Bridge Tenders are going away at a fast clip with the super structures of today. Those that are left, will have you reaching for anti-depressants or will, (in this case) have you appreciating the stewardship and professionalism that the tender tradition holds. I was vessel no. 2, trailing a sailing vessel, under power, thru the Roosevelt Bridge, Stuart, FL. The sailing vessel before me, from Sanibel, IS had a dingy in tow that was starting to catch air in the open St. Lucie River. In one such event, snapped the painter. After hailing on 16 and horn blows, got the vessel's attention, and proceeded with recovering the craft across both gunwales. The tender gave us an immediate opening to allow the transfer back to the owner, leeward of the prevailing winds. Thank you Stuart-Roosevelt tender. I hope to be your neighbor soon.
