OK Tug nuts what is the best route from Anacortes to princess Louisa inlet for my first trip up. probably the middle of August 1 of September i’ve never went further north than the San Juan Islands so this will be my first trip in to Canada with the boat all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

So many choices
A few thoughts: Sidney is a great place to enter Canada and there’s a good close grocery store to stock up on food and beverages. Also on the hook at Sidney spit is a good place to relax and practice anchoring if you want to.
Next stop could be Nanaimo that can include a really nice stop at Newcastle island prov park. That’s a great place to wait for the right moment to cross the strait of Georgia, mornings are the best and you can see the strait easily from Newcastle to confirm conditions
From there it’s an easy run across to pender harbor, many choices there, garden bay is a sweet spot to stop. Then up the channel with a possible stop at Back Eddy and then on to Malibu rapids and princess louisa.
Many good choices, depending on your style and your time frame for the trip.
Have fun, you’ll love it
Hopefully tides will put you on a schedule to move up the reaches toward Malibu very slowly with a slack tide when you arrive.

Your C28 has the ability to go much faster than our slow R-25 Classic. You might be able to cut a day off this route going faster. And of course favorable weather and waves dictate everything. That said, our route would be to cruise to Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor or Prevost on Stuart Island for day 1. Then on day 2 cruise to Bedwell Harbor to clear customs and then on up to Ganges to provision and spend the night. Day 3 a very relaxed cruise through Gabriola Pass and up to Pages Resort in Silva Bay for the night. Next day crossing the Strait early before the typical afternoon winds pick up and refuel if needed at Secret Cove before heading up to John Henry’s in Pender Harbor for the night. Leave John Henry’s at the right time to get you up Jervis Inlet to Malibu Rapids 30 minutes before high slack (or low slack if absolutely necessary) and you are there!
Coming back stop at Egmont for refueling and exploring.

PS: if you cross the Strait from Nanaimo to Pender Harbor, make sure Whiskey Golf torpedo testing range is open to small boat traffic.

If you want to explore the Gulf Islands, Sidney is a great town and place to provision. Anacortes is only 32nm to Bedwell Harbor, so going straight there for Customs then continuing on to Ganges is time efficient. Ganges is likewise a great little town with ample shopping for provisions.

Download map of Whiskey Golf for coordinate location and verify military operations for your crossing.

Strait of Georgia is crossed with a critical eye on the weather. If winds are calm, water flat, you can make a diagonal crossing from Porlier Pass to Secret Cove or Pender Harbor. Egmont or PLI next your choice.

Check with your Waggoner Crusing Guide to understand Malibu Rapids. Keep in mind your first time thru the rapids anticipation will be greater than the reality, but nonetheless, the slack times should be respected.

I can recommend staying at Backeddy Marina before PLI for a hike to Skookumchuck Rapids for a packed lunch. Very entertaining. Onto PLI (30nm) from Egmont is easier making the slack time, and your 2-3 days at Chatterbox Falls will be plenty of time to recuperate from your Skookumchuck hike!

Have fun!
