Question for the group -

In our RT23 as we travel, our fuel level on the Garmin pretty much always shows like 92% at speed. When we slow down, then we get a more "real" reading. But then speeding up again it goes back to 92%.

Gradually it will go down, but doesn't behave like a car fuel level where the level goes down more or less real time while we travel.

The Yamaha fuel level seems to be a bit more real time (on the Yamaha display).

Is this expected? Maybe some calibration needed? Or I just don't understand how it's supposed to work?

Thanks.

At speed you're nose up a little, causes the fuel to go to the rear of the tank where the sender is located, thus the higher reading. My Yamaha display does the same thing. When the boats sitting level in the water is when we get the truer reading. I don't use the Garmin for fuel.

I’m just the opposite. The Garmin fuel reading is usually spot on. You do need to tell it when you add fuel and it does the rest using your fuel flow. The Yamaha reading is almost useless when moving.
