I am going to add a usb-# to the dinette. I want to put it below the book holder looks possible - anyone done it?

How did you run the wire across to the panel by the captain seat? Any thoughts/regrets?

I have a 2015 R-27 OB.

Thanks - dn

I have done it. I ran it off the light right above. No need to run to the panel. Drill a hole where you want the USB outlet and then remove the light fixture and snake a wire down. Connect wire to the Lamp wires and then to the USB. One of the easiest jobs you can do on the boat. I actually installed a two outlet 12V and plugged in a double USB on one side and left the 12V outlet for other uses if necessary. You can never have too many 12V outlets on the boat. 😀

Many thanks. I pulled the lamp out last night and it looks like a relatively straight forward wiring job.

I thought I could just drill a nice hole in the side , but there are some thicker bracing along the side. So do do it. I did a load of work to have the one on the side, but it is easier and probably better, to just put the two hole under the magazine rack and call it good.

I wish they had put bigger wire to the lights, but it is big enough for my purpose.

Note: I left the standard cigarette lighter one off to the side and put a usb-c/a in front. I sometimes just want to run a small inverter for the laptop screen and don’t want to turn on the inverter for that - is that a good idea or just wishful thinking?

Thanks for everyone’s help.
