Last week I was out in my 2019 C28 when the afternoon thunderstorms rolled through. I had to button up the windows to keep the rain out, but it was hot and the windshield started fogging up. I fired up the generator to use the AC to keep cool and dry out the cabin. The AC would run for a couple minutes and then kick an HPF fault. This is usually associated with a blockage of the water supply line for the pump. Thought it might be a problem with running the AC off of the generator, but when I tied up later, I ran the AC off the generator for over an hour with no problems. Does running the AC underway pose problems for the pump to be able to suck seawater into the system? I was only going about 7-8 knots. Anybody ever experienced this or have a solution?

You could have a partially restricted a/c sea strainer resulting in less flow underway. Remove the strainer, make sure it is clean. I use an ice pick and run it around the internal chambers of the strainer. I have found that it doesn’t take much to reduce the flow. You could also have sea growth inside the intake on the bottom of the boat.

Thanks. That make sense. I'll do that this afternoon.

Agree with Brian. There is probably a partial restriction. You could be sucking in air depending where the intake is, but I don't think you were going fast enouth for that and a partial restriction is more likely.

It might have to do with your speed. To fast and it probably cannot pull water for AC. My C24 AC will not work over 12-14 mph in some chop.
