Has anyone out there found a good rust preventative for our aggressive marine environment. I am constantly battling rust on nuts, bolts, hydraulic hose connectors and the like. The 6BY2-260 motor mounts even trap water and show a layer of rust. My 2009 R29 Ladybug, Too is showing the all to common signs of corrosion. I need to get after it before the summer starts and I don't have time. Suggestions would be appreciated.

From personal experience I can recommend 'Boeshield T9' and 'CRC Corrosion Inhibitor'; I'm sure others have their favorites too.
Both are available as aerosol sprays and they dry as a waxy film which very effective in a salty enviroment.
Google both for more information.

However, if you already have rust forming I'd suggect treating it with a rust converter first, then providing protection with either of the previously mentioned products.

We use a product that was recommended on the Yamaha Jet Boat forum called Corrosion X. (www.corrosionx.com). This stuff is pretty amazing. They also have a product that removes rust and some other products that work well in the marine environment. You can usually find it at a local hardware store or online at amazon.com or one of the other on-line vendors.

Smooth seas,

Mike
