I need to wire brush a few fittings and bolts in the engine room.
After removing the corrosion rust or oxidation, what would you put on the various metal pieces to prevent future corrosion?

MRO Chem Black Star rust convertor. (Amazon) Used on oil rigs. I use it on the farm. Then spray color of choice over the cured convertor.

For years as a marine technician I carried CRC marine 6-56. I purchase it by the gallon and use a spray bottle to apply. When I finished working on an engine I would give it a spray. Light mist would coat the surfaces and help prevent rust and corrosion. The wet lubricant dries and leaves a protective coat. Works good on electrical connections for moisture removal.

This is a great application for outboard power heads and components along with inboards. I have been using a form of this CRC product for 40 years and have a positive review.

I have used wd30 for over 30 years. A light coating to the entire engine. It just works and is always on hand!

I use Sta-bil Rust stopper on any exposed metal. If you are going to paint I would follow Levitation's instructions.
