Does any one know or have knowledge of a boat called CEENILE out of Chapel Hill,NC looks like a 25 or 29 from the pictures but unsure, will be up for auction after first of year, says has water damage! Any info about would be appreciated

Boat hammered for $25,100 this morning on Copart. Went to a bidder from CA.
 
I read the description of the condition of the boat on eBay. I also read the description of the boat when it was up for auction. As a 20+ year eBay member, I believe this eBay listed description misrepresents the true condition of the boat and reported it as misrepresention to eBay. Hope everyone here is smart enough not to consider buying this boat at that price!!
 
This boat was auctioned by Copart in Membane, NC a few weeks ago.

Because I intended to aggressively bid, I did a fair amount of research prior to the auction. I was able to contact the previous owner and I took time to actually inspect the boat on the auction yard. Previous owner confirmed the vessel took on water while docked overnight and was completely submerged for approx. 4 hours prior to recovery.

As planned, I bid my maximum of $30,000 before dropping out. The Copart site indicated the winning bid came from CA however the Ebay site now says the boat is in NJ. I am hopeful that the Ebay buyer is aware the history. It was a Progressive Insurance total loss vessel. Maybe a boat history report will reflect the previous loss for the prospective new owner.
 
From the auction : This Ranger is in good condition but needs work (please see pictures for details).  This vessel has fresh water damage.

Looks like these guys peddle older high end cars and salvage boats at a location in California. All their boat ads say “Clean Title” but I wonder how they provide that on a insurance loss boat.

I’ve bought cars that had been totaled and repaired and they came with what’s known as a “salvage” title and had the word savage on the Pink Slip. Typically banks won’t loan on salvage titles and insurance companies won’t insure.

I’ve bought boats through National Liquidators and they came with paperwork that indicated they were “seized” vessels, never a problem at the DMV. One DMV lady tried to tell me you pay the sales tax and then it’s refunded but I didn’t bite on that!

All the electrically driven systems on this boat were submerged and are going to turn into bricks and I don’t see any mention of pickling the engine. You couldn't give me this boat, floating fire hazard. Truly buyer beware.
 
Anyone looking to purchase a used vehicle or boat should be aware of title washing. Many states have very relaxed rules for registration. When I last checked, New Jersey, N.C., Mass., California, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, Illinois, and Washington were among those. Many of those allow the term "salvage" or "flood loss" or "total loss" to be scrubbed from the description when transfers take place. Dealers transfer titles through these states regardless of the physical location of the vehicle, thus explaining the broker being far from the vehicle.

Boats have even fewer safe guards in title transfer and fraud and misrepresentation can be rampant.
Considering the frequency and extent of storms and flooding , the number impacted units is huge. Buyer BEWARE!

So....consider.....the next time you see an used auto transport on the road with all the vehicle windows open, you probably know why........

If the deal is too good to be true...it probably is...................
 
To be fair the previous owner did tell me that both the engine and the generator were "pickled" upon recovery. That was the major factor that allowed me some relief in my decision to bid at the auction site. I assume all electronics and internal wiring would need replaced,

Also, the Ebay seller (remarkably) has over 1500 positive feedback without a single negative review. Not exactly sure how they would accomplish that record dealing with salvage vehicles and boats however it is what it is.
 
Wondering if the boat has been winterized?
If not she'll soon have Frozen and Busted lines, bilge pumps faucets, and fittings, making a bad situation much worse.
I've tried to contact the seller by email on this and other boats with no reply...
Can't imagine she'll be worth much once the freeze sets in...
 
This boat Ceenile is still being used for attempted scam on Craigslist. I responded to a listing claiming the boat is in good working order and asking $23,500 for a 2009 R-25 Classic. I got a long email from someone claiming to be Carey Gardner from Sioux City, Iowa selling a single owner boat for a family member whose husband passed away. He sent 40 detailed pictures with some showing the boat name Ceenile and then sent an invoice that was supposedly through eBay Motors. When I said I couldn’t commit to buying the boat until I could inspect it, I stopped hearing from him. I flagged the listing on Craigslist, but don’t know if trying to report the fraud further would be worth the time.
 
Is it an illusion or does the door to the head show discoloration due to water. Lower part looks like washed out
 
The condition of the rest of the interior does not support the idea that the discoloration on the door is caused from the boat being submerged.

The angle of the stain on the head door would indicate that the boat was down by the bow and the berth cushion, seats, headliner, and other wood seem to show that there was no or little water ingress to the cabin (if the door was so damaged by water there should be other evidence). Or maybe the guy redid the whole interior, but that seems unlikely.

However, there are not a lot of pictures so it is kind of hard to make an accurate assessment.
