I intend to install satellite TV (Dish Network-Tailgator) on my 2013 R-29. It will consist of a Dish on the dock and a receiver placed inside the hanging closet in the forward state room both connected with a coaxial cable. Can anyone opine on how best to run the coaxial cable through the hull/cabin of the boat and seal it properly; and secondly, how one might connect this system to the on board audio/video system so that I have video reception on both TV's and audio through out the six speakers on the boat. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you! Gary on Docky's Dream

Hi Gary,

We use a VuQube with our boat (same as the Tailgater), and with our RV. I was surprised that the dish does such a good job, considering the tides here in the PNW. You do have to be mindful of obstructions (like other boats), as well as any movement of the docks.

I bought this from an RV supply place...

Install is easy: drill the hole, seal it with 4200, attach an RG6 cable on the back side, and lead it to where you need it to go in the boat. I installed the jack in our cockpit, near the electrical connection.

If you have a cable connection, you could use that and not have to do any drilling. Just be sure to RG6 coax was used in the boat to carry the satellite/power.

I'm not familiar with the switcher set up Ranger uses, but in our RV, this line goes to a switcher box that has antenna/cable/satellite/sound system and out to the 3 TVs. We are set up with 2 TVs in the boat, but they both get the same satellite programming.

One other thought: the Dish receiver we have does not have radio remotes, but we bought a remote transmitter so we don't have to have line of sight to the receiver.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thanks Jim, Gary
