On my 25SC I had a Yakima Skybox on the roof. In it I carried my drysuit, undergarmets, regs.. Under the vee berth on the floor went the tanks held in place by my weight harness. Cameras, masks, and lights tucked into the sides of the vee birth. Just traded the 25 for a new 27 and if I see the cockpit holds remain fairly dry, I'll probably forego the Skybox store down there. I'd like to strap the tanks in the cave to help offset the weight of the kicker on the port side. Hope this helps!

In my album is a pic of a rack I built for my R25 that kept 4 tanks upright in the cockpit. It's just a 4 X 4 shaved down to fit the inside of the transom and it helped with the R25 list.
Now with my R29 I'm like you, up in the air as to where to put stuff, oriented towards putting weight forward and in the center line but don't like the idea of having pressure vessels, even low pressure vessels in the room I'm sleeping in.
With the R29 being longer, wider and heaver I'm going to start by keeping tanks in the cockpit and see if the vessels handling/performance is affected noticeably, I'm thinking it wont be.

Hi Joe,
I don't keep my scuba gear on board except when I'm out diving. I bought a 6-tank rack from Orgremaxxraxx - Model 506. It fits great centered in the rear of the cockpit with the transom seat facing outward. I put the weight bags in the center in front of the rack. The rest of the gear is in dive bags so I'll either put those in the cubby or just keep them in the cockpit. The 29 is a great boat to dive from and you'll love the hot water rinse at the swim step! Did you get the sedan or the CB model? I have the CB model (another spot is to keep the dive bags up to in front the rear seats depending on where folks want to congregate).
