Fellow tugger,

I have noticed that the housing for the searchlight is splitted at 3 different places. the crack are about 1/8 wide and 3-4 inches long... Anyone ever saw this on there tug?

I removed the light to see inside, there is no water damage on the electronic board circuit, just a full load of spider web... When removing the front clip that hold the light in place, I noticed that the housing is not round anymore but rather an oval shape.

A quick fix that I thought to do for now, is to use tape made of foil because it is the same color. but think about ordering a new housing. Before I do, I just want to know if it is a common issue.

thanks for your reply!

That hasn't happened to me yet. Any chance water got inside, froze enough to crack the housing, then ran out the cracks?

Perhaps, or what if the heat from the lamp generated too much heat and warped the housing, I dont know :?: , I am the second owner and only tested the lamp once... One thing is for sure, I will leave the lamp pointing slighly downward to make sure that any water running off do not come back up towards the housing via the front clip.

Hello Pat,

Mine hasn't cracked. I thought the searchlight housing was stainless steel. Is yours made of plastic or metal?

Thanks,

dave

Thought so. I would say it is the heat from the lamp which has distorted/cracked the housing. Mine comes with a stainless steel housing so there are no issues of this sort. Regards, Stevan

Stevan,

I am glad to hear that there is a stainless steel housing for this lamp, I will go online to order one for sure 🙂

I have a stainless housing that I would like to sell. My old light failed and I bought a new one.

Sine Wave,

Please let me know what model # your searchlight is, in the spring, I'll contact you when I know for sure what is my searchlight # to make sure that it compatible. My tug is 4 hours away in storage in Ontario so I wont be able to let you know till then.

Thank you!

Hello Dave, mine is plastic.

I rapped on mine yesterday and the housing felt/sounded like metal.
