Hi all: Would appreciate some advice here. I have an R21-EC Tug, 2009 model. It came with a Jabsco 63022, 6" remote control searchlight (Spot/Flood beam). Some time ago the globe failed and I orderd a new one from Ranger. They delivered it and I fitted it to the housing - all good, or so I thought. It still does not work. The globe is fine and so is the wiring harness. I have checked all the connections and the remote control above the helm station. Everything seems to be connected in the correct sequence. There is a a possibility I have not connected the correct coloured wires to each other. As you would know Jabsco do not have a very good support service and their instruction manual is pretty basic.
At the base of the searchlight mounting there is an access hole from which the cable (three wires: grey, black and orange) comes through. The three wires need to be connected to the power source. The power source is the four pin, 12V, polarised socket (Sea Dog brand) which is installed in the fibreglass roof capping, on top of the wheelhouse, behind the mast. Also connected to this power socket is the mast/runnng light (yellow and white leads).
Coming from this power socket also are orange and grey lead connections. Obviously, I connect the orange and grey leads to each other; likewise, the white and yellow leads from the running light.
Can anyone tell me where I should connect the black wire which comes from the base of the searchlight? Is this a ground wire? I seem to recall the black wire (from the base of the searchlight) was connected to either the yellow or white wire from the running light - is this correct? Or is the black wire not required to be connected at all - merely taped off?
I trust I have not confused anyone - if so, I apologise for my ignorance.
At the end of the day, it would have been good to have taken a photograph before disassembling. Great in hindsight!
I would appreciate some technical advice here.
Regards to all.
