Heading over to Fishermans Terminal to dock Kismet on Friday and thinking about exploring the channel by dinghy. Did not locate, on Active Captain, anywhere to tie dinghy up to then be able to walk Fremont or Ballard. Does anyone have any local knowledge that would be helpful?

Thanks,

Jim F

I don't know where the public dinghy docks are located, but I do know you can walk up to the Ballard Locks, cross over, walk through town, and back over Salmon Bay to Fisherman's Terminal. It's about a 4 mile loop. Ivars Salmon House along North Lake and Hooters / Dukes Chowder House / Daniels Broiler in South Lake Union have temporary moorage for diners.

Cheers,

Jim:

If it were me doing this, I would take the dinghy up to close to the Fremont Bridge and try docking at a nearby dock/marina on either side of the bridge. There's a small marina (Northlake Marina) on the Fremont side on east side of the Aurora bridge where I would think they would allow you to dock for a period of time.... just dock and ask them if it's OK. From there it's a very short walk along N. Northlake Way into Fremont. My son has his video/editing business in Fremont which is adjacent to the PCC grocery store, and I could ask him what is allowed for dinghy docking if you like..... but now that it's Friday I suspect you're already on your way.

P.S. If you have internet access, then Goggle Map "Fremont Bridge Seattle" and view the area I've mentioned above.

Good luck..... and Fremont is a very special place IMO... 😉

I wold suggest you call Ray at Fishermans Terminal and ask him for suggestions.
