Hi all

We have a Cutwater 30S and am thinking about next cruising season. Want to head further North along the BC coast and would like to carry a second anchor and rode. Do any of you do this and is so, where do you store it?

Thanks

Simon

I store mine under the front berth...

We carry the 25 pound Mantus M1 “foldable” Rocna type anchor as an backup to our Rocna. It stores folded flat in its shipping box in the cave of our R 25 Classic. Saving up to buy a second anchor rode and chain that will be stowed in the lockers under the v-berth.
Deployed the Mantus several nights while at Lake Powell in October to try it out. I was happy with it’s holding in sand and gravel bottoms.

On my 21ec a very small version of yours... I carry a spare anchor in an anchor bag on the for deck. The main anchor is a Rocna with 40 feet of chain and 150 total rode. The anchor stays on the roller and the rode in a bag on deck. The spare ancho is a Bruce with 10 feet of chain and 125 feet of line. I also have a 10 pound mushroom anchor in a bag with 25 feet of line. It acts as a Kelley to the main anchor. Everything fits well on the foredeck. My anchor locker was never installed at the factory so everything fits on the deck. All anchors have to be ready for quick deployment.
I also hang a bag of shore rope 200 feet from the port side bow rail. You would be surprised how compact the rodeo and shore lines can be. The rode back with all the chain and line is in a bag 12 inches by 14 tall. The tail end comes out the bottom and loops around the mooring bit to secure it.
Hope that gives you some more ideas.
John

I store mine (aluminum Fortress) on the bow rail, starboard side half way between cabin and bow front. They make a SS device to hang the anchor from the rail. I have 10 feet of chain and about 100 feet of rode. It is ready for fast deployment if needed and in the event I loose my anchor. Never used it and hope I never need to.

I stow my Fortress 23 on the bimini uprights in the cockpit with the stainless steel anchor mount near the base of the bimini. The shank is then tied to the upper part of the bimini uprights. I then coil the anchor line around the stock, so it is easily and readily deployable. I use 1/2" plaited line and a short piece of chain.

Thank you very much everyone!
