I am currently trying to select a 1500 watt "inverter" for my 2010 R25.
I understand Ranger uses ProMariner inverters, but I have to choose between "pure sine wave" and "modified sine wave," with or without a charger? How do I choose? Which is recommended by Ranger Tugs?
Bob

Pure sine wave is good for computers etc. However I have the Pro Mariner QS which is partially pure and have had no issues. My unit includes the 40 amp charger. My only thought is that a seperate charger may be better because if one goes then it will be a less expensive replacement. Pro Mariner has a great rrputation and good service.

Hello Bob,

We use a modified sine wave inverter on all of the boats. I'm guessing you already have a battery charger installed. So if it were me I'd just buy what I need which would be the inverter. If you have any other questions just let me know kennymarrs@rangertugs.com.

Thanks,

Our experience also was that a modified sine wave was fine for computer power and other devices that ran through an adapter. The AC adapters seem to digest the differences with no problem at all. Most are putting out DC anyway. I would guess that the pure sine wave might have an advantage to things like laboratory electronics that were actually running on the 110 VAC.

Has anyone with a modified sine wave inverter encountered a problem with 110 VAC electronics like fancy TVs or such? I'd bet most of them are pretty forgiving, too.

there have been a lot of problems reported with coffee makers and appliances with electronic controls when using modified sine wave inverters. Check threads for coffee makers.

If you use a Nespresso coffee machine it will not work without a pure sine wave inverter. Kuerig works fine, though.

We tested a Kkeurig Model 130 on the 28 Cutwater and were able to make 2 cups of coffee, 1 for Mark Mansfield and one for myself. The invertor which is a 1500 pro mariner on the 28 had on issue.
