I am in the process of completing the maintenance on my, new to me, 2015 28 Cutwater and need some help on how to get to the rudder actuator to service it. Has anyone done this? What is the best way to get at the rudder actuator to perform the fluid change and linkage check?
Any, and all, help is appreciated! 🙂

Hang tight on this. I should have some details by Monday or Tuesday. I just had the yard perform a complete 200 hour service and the boat went back in the water on Thursday (Jan. 28). The rudder actuator is on the service protocol list for inspection and I've requested additional service details. I'll reply when I have more info.

Hello,

You can check and service the rudder via the deck plates in the bin under the aft cockpit flip seat. If you need to gain more access you can easily remove the flip seat and then remove the bin. If you remove the cup holders on either side of the flip seat you will see the bolt that holds each side. Remove these and the seat will come out, once out there are only a few screws holding the bin in place. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Thanks Kevin!
I'd also like to thank "Headlee" as well!
Now it's time to get to work!!

I don't have too much more information; however, the service tech is calling the rudder actuator a steering ram which is located top of the rudder located in the engine compartment in very back of the boat center. Good luck with the project.
