Hello
Just wondering if folks changed out the shackle when converting to the Rocna 15 on the R29. The shackle on my boat currently is labeled WLL1T. 3/8, not sure if that was factory issue

TIA

Want to second that recommendation. We use the mantus swivel on our R29 and really like it. Solid construction, easy to assemble, and added to a Rocna it is a bullet-proof set up.

I have 5/16 chain. The link that SgtALF posted says that the S1 Swivel is for chains 1/4-5/16" and the S2 for chains 5/16-3/8". It goes on to say that the S1 is for chains graded 30 and 40 and the S2 for grade 70. The S2 is obviously stronger. I do not know what grade of chain I have. SgtAlf and Haudraulicjump, please let me know if you got the S1 or S2. Any comments on your choice, grade of chain you have, etc. are welcome. Thanks.

I too am interested in knowing which size Mantus swivel folks used (S1 or S2). I’m planning on installing a Rocna 15 and Mantus swivel on our soon to be delivered CW 30S. In doing general reading I’ve seen recommendations to go up one size, but I’ve also read comments that the S2 might not properly fit the 5/16 chain used. So I’m confused and would love to read what other Tugnuts have actually encountered and used. Thanks!

FWIW on our C30 the Rocna 15 fits fine with the factory shackle. At least I'm pretty sure it's the factory shackle -- dealer installed the anchor and didn't mention differently.

C30 has a slightly different anchor setup than RTs, I believe.

We upgraded to the Rocna 15 for our R25sc and also upgraded the rode and hardware.
I bought the best shackle I could find with the biggest pin I can fit through my chain end link. But you need to shop carefully! for example:
The Croby 209 series shackles are "Forged - Quenched and Tempered with alloy pins". WLL= 1 1/2 tonnes for a 7/16" shackle (Crosby P/N: 1018437).
The Crosby 209A series are "Forged Alloy Steel - Quenched and Tempered, with alloy pins". WLL = 2 2/3 tonnes for a 7/16" shackle (Crosby P/N: 1017472).
Big difference! The devil is in the details.

The specs on the Titan ISO High Test G43 5/16" Windless Chain give an inside link diameter of 0.51".
The specs on the Crosby 209A 7/16" shackle give a pin diameter of 0.50", so it does fit in the end link.
The shackle pin is siezed with wire

We got the S1 Mantus swivel. It fit the factory chain and Rocna just fine.

Converted to a Rocna R15 and Mantus S-1 swivel on our R29. Fits the boat well and holds bottom great if you put out the right amount of scope. The swivel eliminated the majority of chain twist. With the chain twist eliminated in sits cleaning in the windless gypsy when retrieving the ground tackle.
