Found a good way to provide shade to the seating area on Ranger Tug 21 (when anchored). A few years ago I bought a "Sports-Brella" to use at the beach (when I lived in LA). It's been in my attic for over 4 years unused since I moved to Huntsville. Thought I might see if it worked on the back of my Ranger Tug. I didn't want a permanent canopy and the temporary ones I've seen just don't block the sun enough from all angles. Voila! Turns out the ole Sports-Brella is a perfect fit. Used a few bungie cords to keep it in place. It sits well on the swim platform and provides shade no matter where the sun is. This is the larger size Brella. See photo attached.

Awesome solution. However, I assume you use this ONLY when your R-21 is stationary otherwise it might easily be blown off.... just saying. 🙂

Absolutely. I was even nervous at first opening it while anchored thinking it might not take too much wind to yank it out of my hands. But it was no problem at all setting it up and keeping it in place. But, yes, it's only practical when anchored or docked.

If you were to rearrange how that sail-like canopy is setup it could be used to help with fuel consumption when wind is running with you. 🙂

I guess you are right . . . it would definately catch the wind. Of course the moment the wind or the boat changed direction I'd have to run back and bring it down as I usually sail alone. And that's likely to my running over yet another water skiier!! 😀
