We are considering options for our 2017 R29S. This company doesn't have any dealers in the Puget Sound area and I am hoping to find more info and photos. I like the versatility of this shade, as it can be easily moved to another pole holder, stowed, and carried off the boat for beach use.

My concern would be wind. As long as it is a calm day you will be fine, but if the wind picks up you may have a challenge. When leaving the boat, even for short periods of time I would close it down in the event of sudden gusts or wind increasing. Also, when under way you won't have shade should the admiral or guests want to be in the cockpit. My other thing is the human factor. My observation is that when things require setup and storage they tend to be used less.

Just some thoughts.

About the Hydrashade
we have had one for several years and used it on our last three boats. Very sturdy and easy to set up and store. On our R25 there is a vertical pole holder in the aft side deck that the shade pole fits in . I don't recommend using it while underway.

I used something similar on another boat. The wind was the fly in the ointment.

Has anyone with a tug installed a Sure Shade? We don't have a cockpit cover on our 29 yet. I'm holding off because I haven't seen anything that stows completely out of the way when you don't want the cockpit covered. http://www.sureshade.com/

We are having a cockpit bimini done by a company in Racine Wisconsin where my RT29SC is stored for the winter. I didn't like the look of the factory installed ones I saw at the festival.

this one won't go up the side of the fiberglass "roof" or whatever you call it that extends over the cockpit. It will cover the back.....
