Sharrow Props

So - is the following correct with a Performance Tune to 335 (I can get 89) and the 5 blade: -- I should see more hole, more mid range, more reverse control and low speed control over all, and probably enough HP to over come the drag of the 5th blade and maybe another 1-2 at the top?

I know a boater who's running that combo (PT SCE5 + NizPro Perf tune). He's on the East coast. I txted him. He says he can't remember his WOT, but that it was faster than before the tune. (He flashed his F300 last October, and has only ran the boat a few times since).

My advice, hang on. 😀

Lemondrop sent me this photo from her 2019 R27-OB.

33mph at 14.4gph = 2.29mpg.

Lemondrop had her F300 flashed with the NizPro Eco tune and runs the PT SCE5 Channel Surfing edition prop.

Thanks for posting Martin. I've also been working with PowerTech for some time after I gave up on Sharrow.

I'm current running 17" OFS - 5 BLADE props and, as you have experienced. I get better hole shot, stern lift and mid range performance. However, I lose top end, compared to SS2s, reaching only 5100 vs. 6000. It's important to note that my C302c LE presents a substantially different issue than your R27, that I consider to be a more 'standard' and performant hull. My boat is extremely stern heavy, a real a$$ dragger, with a generator and gas tanks located aft. Stern lift is the most important factor for improving my boat's performance.

Given the lack of top end, PowerTech will be sending me: OFS5L15PCL200 (LH)/OFS5L15PCL200 (RH) with hopes that we keep the mid range and improve top end. I also will check whether the 'SCE 5 Blade/Channel Surfing' props are an alternative. I only dream of seeing numbers like 1.8 MPG, realizing that I have twins, but at least I now see 1.0 MPG at cruise, which is a far cry from 0.7 MPG.

Also, for those who are planning on performance testing and want it all done for you with graphs, I attached the link to the VDR that I have installed.
Paul, what's the WOT rpm of the 15P OFS5 versions from previous 17P versions? Are you running the extended exhaust barrel as well?

I loved our Turning Point Mach-4 Express 15.5x15P dual geometry, but had similar issues, WOT rpm reduced to 5300. Running the TP Mach-3 OS in 13P or Mercury Enertia in 14P I can reach 5900-6000. I would've like to try the Turning Point Mach-4 Express dual geometry in a 15.6x13P, but only if I can borrow one!

Linux (RHEL), my company made a fortune selling 'free software' and we helped put my prior company, Sun, out of business along with much lower cost, non-proprietary processors. IBM bought us for $32B, we were born cheap but sold expensive.

You need to offer enough value to justify the price and if many of your potential customers are not believing it, and have been publicly disparaging the products, then it's not doing Sharrow any good to keep going down that path.

Sharrow has been going at it for years now...I know some key execs. who bailed.
If I remember our support contract correctly, RHEL was only free in theory. 😉

But, I digress. Let’s get back to boats.

I can’t answer for Paul but we have the OFS5 16 pitch with the ext tube and can get 5700 area.

Missed this earlier. I've posted detailed reports elsewhere, however, I declared victory, with 5 blade OFS 16s with extension tubes, after years of testing. Along with about 30% improvement at mid range (over OFS2s), WOT is 5500 RPM/45 MPH. I did not run 5 Blade OFS 15s, however, I ran several other 15P props that did not give me enough stern lift. I consider 5500 RPM to be the bottom of the acceptable range. However, compared to what I originally purchased, overall performance is like a 'new boat'.
