Greetings,
We have been looking for a boat like the R25 and just had the opportunity to look at a couple of new 2009's at the same marina. We noticed that both boats had signs of a water leak from the roof on the port side between the two back windows. It appears that the leak may be coming from where the hand rail is attached. Is this a recall issue or has it been a common warranty issue?

We have a few of other questions?
Boating in the southeast means having flying bugs at night and the roof hatches do not have screens. Are they available and are there covers available so they can be left open when raining like those for RV's?

We would like to be able to run the AC when under way. Will be have to run the generator? Can the engine alternator power an inverter large enough to power the AC?

I can see using the dinette as a bunk regularly and I was curious if the hydraulic lift mechanism used on the R27 could be retrofitted to one of the 09's?

Thanks,
Joel

The AC runs fine on my Honda Eu2000i... This is the most efficient method of running the AC away from shorepower... I built a cabinet that mounts on the swim platform, has a gas can shelf underneath the generator, which raises the genny 12.5 inches above the platform and the enclosure shields the occasional bigger wave from hitting the genny...

A 3500w CONTINUOUS rated inverter will work, but the current draw on the primary will get your attention, something in the neighborhood of 50 amps... The engine alternator will not keep up for long at anything less than full throttle... If you do go with an inverter mount it right next to the house batteries and use 00 welding cable as short as you can make it....

Screens are available, I have screens for every window on my R25. They are well designed screens with a rubber type border that bends easily to put in place. And they are designed for the ceiling hatches.

No leaks on our R25!

Don

Hey Joel,
Would you consider a slightly used 2008 R25? I am selling mine because we just do not use it. Less than 80 hours on the engine and generator and I am right down the road in Fairhope, AL. See Ranger Tugs for Sale on this Web site for more details. You may contact me at 251-990-4106 or e-mail: joebridgforth@bellsouth.net

P.S. No leaks that I have found.

I live in Alabama also but keep my R25 on Watts Bar lake in Tennessee during season. I would strongly encourage getting the diesel generator for a boat in the south as you will use it often. My boat came with screens
