The specs appear to omit shore power for the 21EC. Is that an oversight in the lit or is there something I need to know.
Thanks

From the posted wiring diagrams (see left hand side home page), it looks as if it's all 12V. There is a "shore plug" shown that hooks to the charger but that's the only indication of 110V on the boat.

As far as I can determine, the R-21 EC doesn't have what we usually call "shore power". There's a receptacle in the starboard side of the engine box where one can plug in a 110/120 volt AC extension cord. This circuit only feeds the battery charger.

There aren't any other 110/120 volt AC systems on the vessel. All other systems are 12 volt DC.

The above descriptions are totally accurate, but we use the AC plug like shore power... the batteries remain fully charged and you can operate all the on-board systems without worrying about battery drain when staying aboard at the slip.

All of these are correct. On the early 2008 models we installed a single bank battery charger that was hooked to the house battery only. On our current models we install a three bank battery charger that is good for 90-240 volts. This is a 15 amp smart charger that can determine each battery banks status and put all 15 amps into one bank automatically if the other bank is charged. We made this change when we started offering 12 volt Air Conditioning as an option.

Andrew,

What is the make and model of charger now being installed in the R21?

Andrew, while you're still online. I assume there is a battery selector switch. I need to know how the charging circuits, 2009 model, work.

With the selector switch OFF, does the charger charge both batteries (or one if it senses only one needs charging) automatically? Actually I'm asking if the charger circuit is separate from the battery selector switch circuitry?

When operating the engine, does the alternator charge the batteries according to the position of the battery selector switch? If so, is there a problem if one turns the selector OFF with the engine running?

Thanks,

Gene

We install a pro mariner battery charger and it is the Pro Tech I 15 amp. There is one cutoff switch for the house electrical located underneath the helm seat inside the cabinet(On/Off switch only). With this switch off the battery charger will still charge both banks. The battery charger is hooked up directly to each battery. There is not an engine cutoff switch on this boat or an emergency parellel switch either.
