shore power cord storage

Where does every one else store their shore power cord when it's not in use? We 'dump' ours in the cave, but it gets tangled with other stuff in there. Have thought of putting 2 heavy duty hooks in the cave on the back side of the dinette seat back. Is that strong enough for the weight? We have a 2007 R25.

I use a ChordPro for storing the 50' awkward/heavy shore power chord. It is not only good for storing when underway but also for keeping things tidy when docked.

They are inexpensive (around $15) and 25' winds one way and the other 25' winds the opposite way.

The handle has a strong eyelet and I use it to hook onto a carabiner hanging on a short line from the transom railing. In this way it's out of the way but within easy reach when needed.

Thanks for the link! They show 2 units, the standard and XL. The standard is about $17, the XL is $34.95. They suggest the larger unit for 50' of 30 amp RV cord. Are they just up selling the larger unit when the smaller one is adequate?

The XL cordpro holds a 50' marine power cord -- exactly. I have two, one for the shore power cord and a second for a 100" 12 gauge regular extension cord when I'm far from power and just must have some.

Used them for about 15 years - love them both.

Good deal for the money, reliable, and ==clearly-- long lasting.

Mike, I think you meant cordpro? I found them on Amazon and they are 1/2 of what they are on the Cordpro website! Thanks for the tip!

Ordered a Cordpro XL from Amazon ($15.47). I used another one of my home made dock line hangers to hang it on. I like it a lot, it works great, doesn't take up a lot of room, and really keeps the cockpit tidy.

Tom: Well done. This was also my solution for storing the shore power cord. Fifty feet of shore power cable is darn heavy and awkward to hold and move about. This cable storage device goes a long way solving this IMO as well as keeping it all very tidy and safe especially when these cords are laid out on the dock in haphazard ways that present opportunities for people tripping over them. 😉
