Promariner 2500 inverter, no generator.

Hi,
The shore power (SP) worked when I got the boat but stopped working 2 weeks ago. The inverter works. I no longer hear the transfer switch “bump” when I toggle inverter/SP selector switch. I found the ELCI. When I test voltage I get 125v line side when the switch open but it drops to 45v on both line and load when the ELCI is closed. I pulled the SP inlet and I have 123v and all connections are good. But it appears it is not a direct line from Inlet to ELCI. The inlet cable is labeled “shore power jumper” and the cable on the load side of the ELCI is labeled “shore power plug #2”. This has me stumped. I spent 42 years as an electrician so I know how to troubleshoot.
Could you please answer the following questions?
1. Was there at one time more than one SP plug.
2. Is there a separate transfer switch or does the inverter make the transfer. If separate Xfer switch where is it?
3. Can you provide a schematic of the 120v shore power wiring?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

On my 2012 there is a breaker reset in the port aft cabinet near where power comes in. Reach up high.

2011 R29. Same problem. Was intermittent for 6 months. Promariner tech support suggested a bad transfer switch, which is internal to the unit. I replaced the unit and that solved the problem. When turning on shore power with the new unit, I can barely hear the transfer switch where as with the old unit it was a loud “thunk”

I had the same issue a few years ago and replaced the inverter.. 2011 R29 I kinda wish I had gone for the pure sine one but the un pure one is doing ok for most things.

Good Luck

Well, it turns out the marina power had an open neutral. When I tested with no load it would read 124v but under load it would drop to 45v. The inverter wouldn’t transfer. When I connected to a different power pedestal it still wouldn’t transfer but maintained 124v. A couple whacks on the inverter did the trick. It has been working fine for a couple of days.It appears that my inverter is ok for now.
Thanks for all the the responses. This forum is a great resource for Ranger newbys like myself.
PS. I am writing this while hanging on a mooring bouy at Sucia State Park, Washington state.

I think this is the second thread this season of mysterious shore power issues being eventually traced to a problem In the marina’s wiring and or power pedestal. My suggestion is if you are experiencing a shore power problem is to assume it is a marina issue before checking components in the boat. We have found a surprising number of bad pedestal outlets in the PNW having issues in a number of marinas.
