Does the R21 EC come standard with shore power?

My 21-EC came with a installed battery charger, I'm not sure if you would call it shore power, but it is what it is! No 110 volts just 12volt system, but works ok for me. Bob

No by default, but could be installed as an option when ordering the R-21 EC that is no longer in production.

ok so with no shore power, will the refrigerator run of the house battery?

Shore power (also known as Cold Ironing, Alternative Maritime Power, shore power or shore supply) is the process of providing Shoreside electrical power to a ship at berth while the main and auxiliary engines are turned off.
So technically your battery charger plugged in would be considered as being on shore power, and would run your refrigerator without running down your batteries.

I just returned from eight days on the Erie Canal and was pleased to discover that the house battery would run the refrigerator for over 12 hrs. I'm really impressed with that little box. I looked it up on their web site and it only draws about 30 watts, and that's only when it's running. We originally planned on always docking where shore power was available, but upon discovering the above, decided it didn't matter. Our only other night time power usage was a few lights. We were independent of shore power.

If you change all globes to LED (easy) and add another house battery (or even two as I have done) in rear compartment (relatively easy) you can go for days without shore power and without running engine. This includes using two LED floodlights for cockpit that I have added as well as using fridge (turned off at night), water pump, stereo and charging iPads and iPhones. When next to shore power on jetty or on trailer in boat shed I plug mains power into boat that has installed a large CTEK marine trickle charger that keeps all HOUSE batteries including START battery fully charged.

One of the greatest joys of our life was our R-21. We had a 2016 which we sold last year to move up to an R-27.

In general when we think of "shore power" we're thinking separate 110 volt AC and 12 volt DC electrical systems. The R-21 does not have a separate 110 volt system. What it has is a direct 110 connection to the battery charger which then powers any/all of the 12 volt systems. We kept our R-21 in a slip and hooked to power and ran the fridge continuously with no problems at all. The only thing I really wanted a separate 110 volt outlet for was a heater/dehumidifier for the winter. I would just run a separate extension cord down along the anchor chain and into the cabin. It worked fine.

Cheers,
Mark

Mark our 21 is in a slip if I don't have shore power then how do I hook up to power so I can run the fridge?
sorry for the simple questions

Fiman1 :
Don't you have a electric plug in the cockpit area by the back seat going to the battery charger?

Don't know, However there is some sort of plug on the engine cover in the cockpit but I haven't looked at it. We just bought the boat 2 mos ago, Still learning.

The battery charger plugs into the shore power outlet for your slip. All you’re doing is powering the battery charger. While it’s on you have full use of your 12 volt items without draining the batteries.

Ok I have found the plug in the cockpit. Question does the battery switches need to be in the on position in order to run the charger when it's plugged in. I hope thats not a stupid question.

Thanks
