Need some help here deciding . Going to spend the winter in Victoria BC We will be doing some boating but I suspect not a lot.. I'm trying to decide if it's worth bringing the dingy with me or not. Down south we used it a lot just to go out in instead of the tug... I'm thinking with the colder temps this will not be the case.. My only concern is do I need it if we anchor out? Around here we just drop an anchor or two and make sure we are holding through the day and sleep good through the night..
Thanks

If you bring it.... You won't use it. If you leave it home, you will wish you had it. You know, "Murphy's Law"......

IMO, among its other uses, a dinghy is a safety device. If you venture a greater distance from shore than you are comfortable swimming, you need a dinghy on board.

As Dave says... it's a two edge sword issue. IMO you should take it and make sure you use it at least once or twice so that you feel it was worthwhile. 🙂

BTW... What is the issue with taking it with you ?

I'm thinking I may take it and leave the engine behind... No issue other then space.. Trying to determine what needs to come and what can go in our storage.

Bring the dink. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. You never know what might happen on the water and bringing something to bail out into is never a bad idea.
