Has anyone come up with a modification so that the carpet wall does not get wet? We would like to use the shower but are concerned about mold & wet carpet smell. Thank you

Interesting issue. We had a 2008 Ranger 25 and none of the walls were carpeted. They were either vinyl or paneled that was coated with a good sealer. Maybe the headliner was the white "monkey fur". I am also not aware that the factory carpeted any of the walls in these wet heads. Is it possible this was a modification by an owner?

Anyway, the most common modification is to install a curtain that is mounted on the ceiling. The materials and the hardware are commonly found in RV part stores. Hope this helpful.

I made a full wrap around shower enclosure in our R-23 for protection but just to be safe I treated the entire head enclosure, the door, the walls and monkey fur with Scotchgard heavy duty water repellent. It works great.

Making a custom rod and curtain can change the wet head into a functional shower. When we started cruising the use of the shower was to much work. earthing in the head had to be removed so it would not get wet. The ceiling area in our C26 was not flat so installing a track was not feasible plus the area of the shower got smaller and smaller. I did try using suction cups and hung a shower curtain that was removable. When the shower head was on the water flow acted as a vacuum and the curtain seemed to cling.

I machined some mounting brackets and purchased a stick of heavy wall stainless steel tubing and made curtain rods. I ordered a replacement privacy curtain from Cutwater and used this curtain as a shower curtain. I sprayed it with the Rust-Oleum water repellent https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DCh ... RBL&adurl= This stuff works great. We can shower and the water just falls off and the material never seems to get wet. We don't use the sower if we are at a marina that has facilities. This year with Covid we used it more than ever. It does the job. The only issue we find now is we run out of water more often !!!

Curtain rolled up and snapped to the bulkhead

Curtain opened up for showering

I moved the head back and changed the angle of the way it was mounted to give more leg room while showering

Curtain rod installation

This install would be easier to do in a R25 because it has flat bulkheads with no angles. The hardest part of the install was making the mounting brackets to flush mount to the surfaces with the rods running level.

In the R25 Classic an alternative shower method is to run the shower head out through the porthole window and shower in the cockpit. Probably not an option in a crowded marina.
I’ve heard of folks using the raw water wash down pump with hose while on the swim platform first then using the shower head in the cockpit for a final fresh water rinse.
