Shortly after receiving our boat the shower sump pump failed. After a longer than needed email exchange. We finally received a completely new assembly. We only needed the pump insert, but it ended up being a good thing??? After installing the new pump insert, the pump started fine with fluid in the sump. Strangely water was spaying from the side if the pump outlet back into the sump tank. By comparing the new assembly to what was installed on our boat, the new assembly does not have this drilled bypass hole. The bypass is causing fluid to spray onto the float sensor and the pump runs continuously, recirculating the same small amount of fluid. Probably why the pump failed. Now I believe I need to install the complete shower sump assembly, to stop the continuous running? Is there a reason for the bypass hole? Did Ranger drill the hole? Do I need the hole for some reason? Thanks

I never understood the bypass hole, mine was doing the same thing on my C30 (2016). My sump pump float switch failed, and I opted to replace the entire sump box as it was easier. The new one works flawlessly.

mmm, my 2012 R27 has that little hole also, but doesn't seem to cause any harm. mmm... Gary
