Shrimp pot puller and down riggers

1) What electric Scotty downriggers do you recommend?
2) What battery is hooked to cockpit down rigger 12v outlets? (my boat was bought used yet I assume these outlets are RT factory)
3) What gas Honda shrimp pot puller is recommended? What is best way to mount puller without drilling too many holes and marking up a nice boat?
4) what are good type of shrimp pot to have on R29 without storing on roof or bow? Should I store on cockpit floor or swim deck. Dingy is on swim deck, vertical and aft of railing.

Hi, I also have an R29.
1) I have Scotty 1106B (b for braid) and they work well. Never felt the need to go up to the 2106. Most of my fishing is under 150 feet.
2) mine are wired to the house bank (where they should be in my opinion)
3) I have the Ace Line Hauler, which is electric and fits in the Scotty mounts. Its been adequate for me. I've seen pics of gas pullers mounted on the swimdeck and fastened to the transom.
4. I shrimp in Puget Sound and the San Juans so never have the pots in my boat more than a couple days (or 4 hours in the sound). I put them on the cockpit floor.
I have square SMI pots and find they work well for a fast fish scenario. If I was doing more I'd go with the McKay pots because I think their crab pots are the best on the market, but can't justify new pots for a couple days a year. Some people swear by the Ladners. There's also the McKay Coffin Pot which is enormous if you want 4 limits in one pot!
Note Puget Sound area Costco locations often have the SMI pots and the line hauler for a good price near the opener.

I’ve had the 1106 and the 2106. I like the digital counter on the 2106 but it is almost too powerful. The first time I used it I snapped the clip off the end because the stopper was mounted too close to the clip and the line didn’t stop before the bumper hit the wheel. You don’t need it, but the speed is nice once you get used to it. The 1106 served me well and lasted 20 years. Definitely get a Scotty Surestop if you get the 2106.

I had the Ace Line Hauler but it never worked well for me. I switched to a Scotty pot puller and use it mostly for shrimp. You still have to pull a bit but it is very compact and takes up most of the weight.

I haven’t used them myself yet, but several tug nuts swear by the Mondo Condo shrimp pots.

• I have High Power 2106s since I want fast retrieval and the ability to use heavier weights, up to 20 lbs. Both have SureStops with rubber snubbers.
• My boat came with Scotty pads and plugs already wired.
• My Ace Line Hauler has been outstanding. I also have the Bull Dog hands free attachment so the rope coils nicely into a bucket. Some guys use a cone as well. It is compatible with pads and plugs.
• I'm fishing for Dungeness Crab with hoops in the early season. I gave up traps/pots years ago since you leave them overnight and people mess with them...way too much aggravation.
