Side power thruster

Does the factory have a special tool to remove the 2 Allen keys hiding the stern side power thruster to the transom?

I didn't want to buy a special tool, so i used a very small/low profile 1/4" wrench with a 6mm hex bit in the closed end. I would recommend buying it after the amount of futzing I had to do to get the bolts on and off 🙂

I can tell you from my experience last week that the Mulwark one (first listing in your search results) will not work, at least on my C30 CB stern thruster. It's still to thick to get the wrench and the bit into the head of the allen screw.

I recommend buying two of the Imtra wrenches. If you back out the bolt too far on one side before backing out the other side the wrench can get jammed between the motor housing and bolt head. Since the wrench only ratchets in one direction there is no way to drive it back in to remove it. You will need to find another short Allen key to back out the other side to loosen the motor enough free up the first. Two keys solve this problem and make it so much easier because you don’t have to move the wrench from bolt to bolt which can be really difficult in such a tight space!
