Silent/Sleuth mode configuration for AIS 800

Subject: Silent/Sleuth mode configuration for AIS 800

I'm aware that the AIS 800 can be set to 'silent/sleuth' mode such that the boat's position/speed etc are not transmitted. This is configured by grounding its green wire and for the 'silent/sleuth' mode to be turned ON/OFF via controls on the Chart Plotter.

Has anyone employed this feature, and does it actually work ?

BTW.... the green wire grounding would be a real chore to do, but knowing this person likes challenges who knows ... :lol:
