Researching I read that I need to install a Tuner. Also, on the Fusion site they say that you have to contact them for a new adapter cable to get it working.
Can the tuner be installed inside?
What is your setup?
Thanks, in advance

I have a Clarion radio/CD player in my R-25 so I don't know if they're similar but here's how I set mine up.

I have an XM receiver and bought car kits for my R-25, my pontoon boat, my F250 truck, and a 99 Corvette. The car kit is wired into each one, with a standard cable that outputs the sound to the auxiliary ports on the various radios. The Clarion in the R-25 has two auxiliary ports, one on the front of the radio and one that's on a wire hanging from the back of the radio. on the R-25, I added a 12 volt adapter inside the glove box, mounted the car kit XM dock on top of the dash on the port side and ran the wires for power and the audio feed from the auxiliary adapter down into the glove box. I put the small XM antenna on the shelf that houses the lights over the dining table and routed the wire down by the window frame on the passengers side, through the glove box and up to the XM receiver dock for the car kit. The reception seems to be fine through the top of the boat.

What's nice about this setup is I just move the XM receiver to the boat/car/truck that I'm using. When towing the R-25, the receiver is in the truck and when I launch the boat it moves to the cabin. one subscription for 4 vehicle/watercraft.
Hope that helps. Any questions email or pm me.

In order to use Sirius on your Fusion unit, you only need your Sirius ID and to follow the instructions for activation in the user manual. If you have an XM account, you will need a separate tuner and can use the AUX input on the unit.

Thanks all.
Shared Dream II,
I have a Sirius account and will re-read the user manual. The front on the Fusion does say " Sirius Ready".

You will also need a Sirius satellite antenna . That can be a small automotive or a marine external antenna .
They are not too expensive .

Marc,
Is a Sirius tuner in the radio and that a seperate tuner is required for XM?

I confirmed my Tuner region is set to USA but I do not get Sirius screen from the source button.
Will just a Sirius antenna bring up the Sirius screen and how do I connect the antenna?
If I use my existing subscription for my auto will it work?

My research does'nt explain any difference between Sirius/XM subscriptions so I am confused.
Thank you,

With Sirius or XM you need a separate subscription for each tuner. So if you have Sirius built in to your car radio and Sirius built into your boat radio, then you need two subscriptions.

Since I have a separate XM tuner that I move from radio to radio, I have one subscription.

Their marketing can be confusing. Sirius and XM used to be two companies. Now they are one company with two offerings. Their programming is the same. But they still haven't integrated the businesses completely. We have Sirius in our car (built into the factory installed stereo), and XM on our boat (via Garmin's GXM Antenna). But they see me as two separate accounts. This has lead to considerable confusion. They say they'll be integrating their customer databases this year and I, for example, will be seen as one account with two subscriptions.

As far as our boat installation goes, the service comes in via the Garmin GXM 51 antenna and is fed into the Garmin MFD (chart plotter) then out and into the Fusion head unit via the AUX input. Channel guide access and selection is made on the MFD. This means we can't change channels unless the MFD is on. A little inconvenient, and at anchor it can create an unnecessary demand on the house bank.

We went with the GXM 51 because we wanted the weather service. It proved to be redundant at best, and disappointing at worst. We didn't renew.

Cheers,

Bruce

I used to have Sirius/XM and they are indeed confusing at times. And when they raise your monthly rate and you call to complain they can miraculously get you a super discount. Having an iPhone with pandora for music and the ability to get news etc. I just dropped it. I can plug my phone into the car radio or into the boat radio and get what I want without having to deal with Sirius/xm for a refresh or subscription negotiations.

Thank you all.
I have contacted Fusion Support for a firmware upgrade and new tuner connection cable with advice on purchase of the compatable tuner. I assume any marine antenna will be ok.

The I phone option for Sirius would be another solution but I have read a review that the new I 5 wont work. (can't verify this) and I would be conserned about data usage charges.

I have not had any problems with Sirius Radio Subscription since the Law Suite against them was settled a few years ago.
Thanks again for all who contributed to this thread.

I would have to check but I bet you could just use your earphone jack and plug that into an auxiliary input jack on the fusion and get the same result.

We will send out the cable and software update to your attention.

The Sirius module you need is the SXV200B. This module is available from your local car / marine audio store.

I recieved this reply from Fusion today.
