i have a 2009 25 classic with the Cummins power plant. Last week I got an alarm #155 - Intake manifold temp alert non critical. The temp of 199 now stays on my SmartCraft display and the alarm goes off when I start and run the engine for a few minutes. I have good water flow out of the exhaust.... impeller looks fine...good flow of water thru the strainer. My hunch is that the sensor went bad. I wonder if I do a reset on the SmartCraft, do I lose all the historical data, such as total hours max temps and speeds fuel average use?

Do not see a sensor in the engine manual and have not done a google search for that part. Anyone else have or heard of this issue?

Thanks

Hello Sue and Steve,

This was a common alarm with the Cummins engines. I believe it was a non critical alarm but will need to be addressed by a Mercury engine service center. It will require a sensor change if I remember right.

Thank you,

Andrew Custis

Thanks, Andrew. The prior posts were spot on in describing my problem. No one posted a part number or source. Anyone remember that info???

Steve, I am fairly certain the part number you are looking for is 898101786. PM me with your email address and I will send you and extract from Cummins parts manual with exploded view of manifold. Also the corresponding extract from Service Manual. Regarding your other question on doing a reset. I do not think doing a Smartcraft reset will impact your total engine hour reading as it resides in a separate area within the ECM; however, I do believe a reset would clear out average fuel, etc.

sent .. thanks!

Mike,

Thanks for the info you emailed on this issue. Found the sensor readily available on the net. Ordered one and should resolve this problem soon.
