Hi all, first off — thanks for having this forum available… it seems like a great community and we’ve already learned a ton from browsing through various posts!

We recently bought a 2018 C30 CB and have a ton to learn. We’ve spent a lot of time on sailboats and smaller boats, but this is our first one like this. We know the basics, but are realizing how much there is to learn as we go deeper on the various systems, maintenance, etc. and the list of questions starts to grow.

To get started, we’ve been reading manuals, watching videos, and browsing here, but that only gets us so far. Does anyone have any tips for how to more deeply understand the systems and maintenance needs on a boat like this, plan out a smart maintenance schedule (including deciding when to do things ourselves and when to bring in pros), and get everything from the simple/dumb questions answered to the more complicated ones?

We know we can post here when we have specific issues, but we’re thinking more like someone who would spend half a day with us teaching us more about the systems than we learned when we did the survey and then picked up the boat.

Any tips/suggestions would be great. Thank you!

Hi there Moien,

I’m local and also have a C30 CB. Happy to assist. Sending you a PM with my contact details.

I'm not sure how active they are currently but I can recommend to check with Captain John and Laurie Gray, who have done consulting, teaching, and training for many in the RT/CW community. They're based out of Everett WA. https://www.andiamo-ranger29.com/contact-us.html

Awesome tips, thank you! We'll check them all out. And Dave -- thanks for the offer to connect, we'll reach out when things slow down a little for us.

Happy to help! I also just got my 50-ton USCG Masters License, and do virtually all my own maintenance on my C30 🙂
