Has anyone connected a SoftStart or SmartStart conditioning unit to their A/C unit in their Cutwater. I am trying to run our A/C from a 2000w Yamaha portable genset and looked at the 4 connecting wires and the inside the control box diagram of the Webasto 9000 unit and am having difficulty discovering what the connections should be as the numbering on the wiring varies from the end to the control box. Any suggestions appreciated. We live in Annapolis and every tech is busy for weeks and we'd like to use it over the 4th if I can get it working. Many thanks.

I hope you have better luck then I did with the operation. Perhaps your AC is a bit smaller then the one on my R-27, but mine did not work out for me. The draw was just too large even with the smart start. Sorry I can't help you with the connections. You may want to try and call the Smart Start people or Wabasto. They may be able to help guide you through the connection process.

I had a Micro Air soft start put on a Webasto 16000 BTU FCF on a boat i owned and it worked flawlessly. The unit would run on a Honda 2000 with no problem. After it is installed as per the directions you have to go through 5 start up cycles so the soft start unit can recognize the AC unit. Call the folks at Micro Air. They are very helpful and a tech @ Webasto is the one who put me in touch with them. I think the FCF 16000 BTU unit had a LRA of somewhere near 55 AMPS and the soft start brought that way down.
