Recently experience a power fluctuation problem at my marina. The source voltage from the marina dropped to less than 60 volts. That problem has been repaired.

After the repair my Morningstar RM-1 is showing a solid red LED. Anyone know how to reset the unit? I have been able to reset the min/max numbers, but not the error codes.

Any help would be much appreciated,
Gary

To reset: Disconnect positive wire from solar panel to solar controller. Then battery fuses. Wait a minute. Reconnect: reinstall fuses at battery. then positive wire from solar panel, . I am curious as to why the solar panel controller was affected by the low 110 voltage. I can only assume that the low voltage prevented the battery charger from working and your batteries went to low voltage.

I may be wrong but you might want to disconnect the panel positive at the solar controller first before the fuses at the batteries. The fuse at the battery, when installed, powers up the Solar Controller and allows it to manage current coming in from the solar panel. There should also be a fuse between the solar panel and the controller. In any event, if you de-power the controller but continue to allow current from the panel going in, it may be possible to damage the controller. My MPPT solar controller's instructions are very specific about the order of inserting fuses (i.e. power up components). Power up the controller first by inserting the battery fuse, then insert the panel fuse to allow current into the controller. Its quite possible yours does not have that concern. HTH, Gary

Talked with the Morningstar factory today. They were extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable.

You all were spot on with your suggestions. The factory says you must disconnect the solar panel wires from the Sun Saver Duo first. Then each battery connection to the Duo. Wait a few seconds, then reconnect opposite of the disconnect. Both battery terminals then the solar panel terminals.

Factory says the condition (solid red LED) would not likely be caused by low voltage. More likely voltage spikes. I imagine there may have been numerous unplugging and re-plugging while the Marina trouble shot the problem.

Will be at the boat this weekend and give it a try.

Thanks for your help.
