Solar panels; import tariffs and MC4 connectors

I didn’t realize I could mix brands on the same controller. I thought that when adding a dissimilar panel in parallel impacts the efficiency of the system. There is a Solarland 150 watt panel that I think would fit the bill.

Thanks!

I’m in the middle of a new solar installation for Our Journey. Went with the Grape Solar 180 watt panel. Good size. Solid looking construction. Assembled in Oregon. Good warranty. Responsive customer service. Home Depot delivered cost was about $220.

another thought is to go with two smaller panels. this way (if wired correctly to a new MPPT controller) if one panel gets shaded it wont effect the performance of the other panel.

alternatively a buddy just installed this into his RV: if you want to really up the power: https://www.platt.com/platt-electri...r-Energy/MSE375SQ9S/product.aspx?zpid=1436956
platt also has a bunch of other options available.

*check your wiring and controller can handle this: I accept no liability 😀

in fact this is an interesting piece of tech for our boats - half cell panels

platts: https://www.platt.com/platt-electri...ionID=16&GroupID=204&CatID=863&SubCatID=11915

Basically if half the panel is shaded by the radar the panel will still push out half its power rather than lose it all.

Separately has anyone solved the mounting issues with the panel on the C30CB?
as far as I can see the support structure for the radar on this boat makes the solar panel completely useless as there is a shadow on the panel 100% of the time...
