As I move into retirement, we're likely going to end up with a ranger, 25 to 27 to explore the Pacific Northwest. This would be my first boat above canoe and rowboat level, so there's a lot to learn.
From that baseline, would soundings magazine provide useful reading going into this?
Thanks.

It all depends on what you want to learn. Anything and everything is good to read for information. Boat US has tons of information on boating and trailering. Reading this site is helpful to gather specific boat information. Chapman's has a big book on Piloting and Seamanship that will give you everything you wanted to know about boating and navigation. Taking a boater's safety course will give you basics on the rules and requirements. I am sure others will chime in on additional resources for information.

You will be entering a new world of fun and exploration, Enjoy!!

If you're planning on purchasing a new boat, consider Ranger's factory delivery program. It will give you a good start on your Pacific NW explorations.

Cheers,

Bruce

Pacific Nor'West Boating magazine might be useful. Free downloads on their web site. I find it interesting and I am located in New England!

If you have a subscription to Netflix or Amazon Prime you will find a number of boating titles available.

Thank you all. I'm working thru Chapman's. Have one Coast Guard course under our belts (Seamanship & boat handling), and more to come.
