Does anyone know if there’s enough space (depth) behind the headboard in the v-berth for flush mounted speakers on a C30? The boat came with lil’ surface mounted rectangular cubes that get in the way when we’re sitting up reading or watching tv. Plus, they sound like #@&#. Thanks!

Hello,

There might be enough room for a set that are not too deep. I would say to install them in the wood but best to remove the head board and ensure there is enough room as you could drill into the anchor locker. If you'd like you can email me and I would then be able to send you photos when I am at the plant later this week? My email is in my signature.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont

Why don't you just replace the existing speakers with better speakers?

That’s exactly what I’m planning to do, but I need to flush mount them so they’re not in the way.

Thanks Kevin, I’ll do that.

An update:
I finally found the time to remove the headboard. There is no room to recess a speaker. The aft wall of the chain locker is directly behind the headboard. Best I’d be able to do would be to raise the factory supplied speakers a bit higher which might help us avoid hitting our heads when sitting up in the berth to read or watch tv.

As an aside, I recently found the drain in the chain locker to be blocked. I struggled, using an air compressor and high pressure water, to clear the clog. It took some time, but it finally worked. Well today, while investigating the speaker issue, I found a cutout behind the removable berth cushion on the forward wall that gives almost direct access to that drain’s hose and the hose clamps inside the hull that secure it to the drain outlet in the bow. Would have made clearing the clog a whole lot easier had I known. You live and learn.
