Spam?

Is anyone else’s TugNuts forum getting bombarded with messages about lipstick and container packaging?

Yep. It happens from time to time, but the admins are pretty quick to get rid of it.

A robot driven link spammer created 50 accounts over night. A few of them generated all of those messages before I found them, deactivated them, and deleted the posts. 48 of the accounts had 0 posts. Last week the same spambot, I suspect, created another 30 accounts but I got them all before they posted.

The best thing to do is ignore them. Certainly don't follow any of the links. And, avoid posting replies. That just boosts them in the timeline, and give me one more post to delete. You can report the post by clicking the exclamation point in the triangle. This will alert folks not to bother reading the post. I'm grateful to members on the east coast who do this as it helps me spot them when I start my day on the west coast.
