Just got a 2011 R29 in April and am on a steep learning curve. An owner of an R27 recently posted on spare anchors but I cannot find the thread. That owner's message dealt with minimum specs. I have in mind obtaining a Danforth anchor since it stows flat and keeping it, its chain and rode in a duffle bag to haul out when needed. My thought is to stow it forward, under the v-berth so as not to add weight to the stern. Apart from the fact that I can't find the earlier post with the R27 specs, an R29 is heavier. The gear will have to be carried from its stowage place to its place of deployment. It will have to be retrieved by hand. What it will be secured to might limit the rode's diameter. With that in mind, I would be grateful for any advice on the size/weight of anchor, size and length of chain and diameter and length of rode that would be most practical. Also, I would like to know to what fittings the rode is attached (both as a second bow anchor or as a stern anchor) as, I expect, that will affect the diameter. Any additional thoughts positive or negative about my plan or general advice on this topic are more than welcome. Thanks for your anticipated advice. Jim.
